LaserShip is a shipping company. I'd never heard of them before until I ordered some granola bars from Amazon and received the shipping notice with LASERSHIP listed as the route of delivery.

Since I received the notice today, a Friday, I will probably receive the package some time next week.

Have USPS Delivery Times Deteriorated?

By Albert on January 26, 2010 11:58 PM

Is it just me, or have delivery times for standard first class mail gotten seriously extended lately?

Mail which I receive from the same location on a regular basis has gone from taking only a one or two days to now taking five or six days. That is not good.

Greyhound Shipping: Baltimore

Greyhound Bus Station

My grandmother bought my daughter a rocking horse for Christmas and my uncle was kind enough to arrange shipping from Massachusetts to Maryland.

The horse was just too big to fit into a car, and once it got into a shipping box, it became too big to ship via UPS. Greyhound was a good choice apparently, and on the receiving end, their staff did a great job.

The guy at the Baltimore station I worked with was named Charles and he helped me removed the horse from the box, and even took care of disposing of all the packing materials. Thanks Charles!

If anyone asks, I'd definitely recommend using Greyhound to ship large packages based on my experience.

Here's a picture of the rocking horse.

USPS Cost Cutting

By Albert on September 3, 2009 4:44 AM

The USPS is closing several hundred post offices as a cost cutting efforts to stem their financial losses. They are also asking and offering bonuses to employees for them to retire or stop working.

I wish they would take my advice and raise their prices for bulk mailers. That would potentially reduce junk mail as well as increase revenue for them.

There is probably a lobbyist group that would argue against this!

My Mail Going to the Wrong PO Box??

By Albert on April 28, 2009 7:23 PM
For the second time within three months, mail that is clearly labeled for my PO Box number has been delivered to a different PO Box, opened, given back to the Post Office, and then finally delivered to my, the correct, PO Box.

Once in a blue moon is acceptable, but twice in three months? What's going on at the Rockville Maryland Post Office? Whats worse is that I had two pieces of mail arrive in my PO Box which was labeled for a different PO Box. I noticed the mistake, didn't open the mail, and simply pushed it back through the other side of the PO Box.

This is all very distressing!

Keep Your Competition Close: USPS versus DHL

While visiting my post office box today, I was able to capture this funny sight, a DHL van parked right under a USPS sign:
